Spirit Tonglen: An Energetic Transmission From a Cat

Artwork inspired by a beautiful communication session with a cat in spirit.

During one of my animal communication sessions, a cat in spirit began showing me some beautiful visuals.

They were of himself and his person, and what I can only describe as an infinity loop of light and sparkles moving between the two of them.

With it, the cat sent overwhelming feelings of love, compassion, and interconnectedness.

At first, I thought the visual was a symbol of their lasting connection, which is beautiful enough in itself, but as the session went on, I realized it had even more meaning.

The cat’s person, who is Buddhist, let me know that he had been doing a Tonglen meditation for his cat after he died, and he had some profound experiences while doing it.

(To put it simply, Tonglen is a Buddhist practice where someone breathes in the suffering of others and breathes out compassion and healing.)

I realized that in our communication, the cat was acknowledging that his person did this practice for him, and the cat was, in a sense, doing it along with him in spirit.

The visuals stayed with me, so I felt compelled to create a representation of what I saw. I’m sharing it with you (with permission) in honor of this very special cat in spirit:

black silhouette heads of cat and human facing each other with mouth open and gold sparkles around them and purple and white infinity loop between mouths

I hope that you feel the transmissions of love, compassion, and interconnectedness coming from this image.

If nothing else, I hope it serves as a reminder that the spiritual connection you share with your companion doesn't end when their physical body does.

If you want help communicating with your animal companions, living or in spirit, I invite you to book a session with me.
